Caring for You – The Bupa WAY
Bupa Launches the First
“Walking Along with You (WAY)” Programme
Supporting patients with musculoskeletal disorders
every step of their healthcare journey
Bupa Hong Kong, the leading health insurance specialist, announced today the launch of the Bupa Walking Along with You (WAY) programme and its musculoskeletal pain treatment programme, which is the first integrated and dedicated multidisciplinary offering to our customers for treatment of musculoskeletal related pain and discomfort in Hong Kong. Supported by a team of professional Care Managers, the WAY programme is designed to provide eligible members convenient and enhanced access to holistic healthcare services at all stages along their healthcare journey. By participating in the programme, members are steered towards the right care pathway with treatment options provided by healthcare professionals.
In Hong Kong, musculoskeletal problems are ranked the third most common disease requiring long-term follow-up (13.5%)1. Research also reveals that over 40% of Hong Kong respondents in their 30s have experienced musculoskeletal problems2.
The pathway to recovery requires rigorous follow-up and care for people suffering from musculoskeletal disorders. With the introduction of Bupa’s first WAY programme – Musculoskeletal pain treatment, members with clinical benefits3 now have access to professional end-to-end support delivered by a team of dedicated Care Managers with registered nursing qualifications. The support can range from providing health guidance to helping with bookings and enquiries, ensuring that the member’s healthcare journey is on track.
Bupa members who opt for the WAY programme – Musculoskeletal pain treatment benefit from:
Free dedicated hotline supported by a designated Care Manager, who is a registered nurse, to provide comprehensive end-to-end support across different healthcare concerns and queries
One-stop multidisciplinary approach focusing on non-invasive treatments, which comprise of both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, herbal remedies and physiotherapy, offered by our selected provider, Quality HealthCare Medical Services
Pain Assessment with a thorough score card developed by our medical teams for better assessment, care, data tracking and management of the patient from beginning to end
End-to-end care from consultations through treatment and regular follow-ups
“Bupa provides customers with access to healthcare services that go beyond a simple doctor consultation. The launch of the WAY programme allows us to be a real partner, supporting our members every step of the way with all-rounded, end-to-end care, and to give them a treatment option with professional opinions,” said Dr. SiNing Zhao, Medical Director, Bupa Hong Kong. “Continuous, rigorous care is central to the recovery and quality of life of patients with chronic conditions. We hope the musculoskeletal care under our WAY programme can increase awareness of common conditions and pain management. We will continue to expand the WAY programme to different medical services, providing more comprehensive support to members with various health and wellness needs, caring for them in the Bupa WAY.”
